Crumlin Fuel Depot, Home Insulation.

Crumlin Fuel Depot, Coal Merchants Dublin. Smokeless coal delivery dublin all areas. The green agenda has been around for quite a while now, and sometimes it is paradoxically seen as something of a “dirty word”. Yes, there is the tree hugging image of people with nothing better to do, but if you talk to any good Coal Merchant in Dublin they will tell you that this is not always the case. Indeed, there are many ways of making much better use of the valuable natural resources available to us. The transport of both goods and people is the big energy user in Ireland. This ranges from road and rail transport inland, to the air and sea transport of people and goods entering and leaving the country. Industry is also a big user of energy, and home heating is another.

Coal Merchants Dublin

Speaking to Dublin Coal Merchant Robert Hudson of Crumlin Fuel Depot this week, he explained that while properly insulating our homes is vitally important to both reduce energy use and save money, some of the easiest ways of insulating our homes are also among the cheapest. “It is very often the simple things that we can start on to make a difference” said Mr Hudson. “We are all familiar with the most important things like loft insulation, lagging jackets, double glazing etc.” the head of Crumlin Fuel Depot in Dublin said. “By all means you should investigate these excellent insulation measures if you haven’t already done so” he said, “but its the smaller and cheaper little things that we can do around the house that gets us into the “energy saving habit”

“As  Coal Merchants in Dublin for over 30 years now, I have come across some of the greatest little tips for insulating your home” Robert said. We all know that home insulation measures are important in reducing your energy use and saving on heating costs, but sometimes it’s the simple little things that can help too.

“I have many years experience as a coal merchant in Dublin, but more importantly, I have over 30 years experience of coal deliveries to my many customers across all of Dublin” said Robert from his Crumlin Fuel Depot base. “ I studied with the “Solid Fuel Advisory Service” in the UK” he continued, “but it’s the experience of talking directly with my customers over the years that I value most”. From his Dublin base, Robert Hudson said “Not only am I more then 30 years carrying out Coal Deliveries in Dublin, I’m proud to say I’m actually the third generation coal merchant in our Dublin family.

Crumlin Fuel Depot’s very simple and inexpensive tips to help get you started are;

1; Use very heavy curtains on all external windows in the winter to keep the heat in, and the cold out. This is the easiest and most inexpensive measure, especially if you already have some heavy curtains stored away at home. Do be careful not to cover radiators though, as this will obviously be counterproductive

2; For External Doors, you can buy some simple “stick-on” draught excluders from your local hardware store. You will be surprised at how easy some of them are to apply. As you might expect, they simply stick on to the base of your doors.

3; You can make something cheap and cheerful with your long old colourful socks, or even old tights, stuffed tightly with old rags, cloths etc. It’s quite simply to make the handiest draught excluding “snake” for the base of your outer doors.

4; The “letter box” in your front door can be a source of chilly draughts. Check it with your hand on a windy day. Again, there are simple and inexpensive options available from your local hardware store, but just like with the draught excluder “snake” above, you can make a hand little draught excluder for your letter box. However, do remember not to impede your postman as he delivers your letters in the mornings.

5; There are handy reflective sheets available that can be easily placed between your radiators and the external walls. However, it’s very easy to make your own if you can get your hands on some sheets of cardboard, and some kitchen tin foil. Simply apply the foil to a suitably sized sheet of cardboard, and then slot it into place behind the radiator, with the foil facing toward the radiator. This can help reflect heat back into the room. For bigger radiators, you can make two or three sheets to slot in side by side.

These are just some simple little tips to get you started in the “energy saving habit”.  Much bigger savings can be achieved by properly insulating our homes throughout.

Coal Merchants Dublin see upturn as winter bites

Coal deliveries Dublin on the increase as home owners turn to cheapest coal in Dublin since before 2010 Crumlin Fuel Depot, Coal Merchannts Dublin, Smokeless Coal Delivery Dublin. Cheapest coal in Dublin

With the Irish economy still in serious difficulties, and those slight signs of recovery yet to emerge, many people have been taking a look at all aspects of household expenditure, including trying to better manage those regular bills that land on the door mat every month or two.

An obvious place to start is with home heating costs. Right now in Ireland, Home Heating Oil is dearer than the rest of Europe. Indeed, the huge outlay for a fill of oil now is almost enough to make your head spin. Meanwhile, Natural Gas prices continue in an upward spiral, after another increase in the order of 20% or so. Meanwhile hard pressed householders witness the cheapest coal in Dublin since before 2010

The particularly severe cold spells we have witnessed in recent winters, with most of Ireland covered in a blanket of snow for a number of weeks, has not only brought the country to a near standstill, but has also seen many people face the unexpected shock of huge increases to their bi-monthly natural gas bills, while empty home heating oil tanks needed to be replenished at ever increasing cost. These large outlays, in one fell swoop, are particularly difficult for many home owners to manage in the present economic crisis. As heating systems struggled to maintain a comfortable level of warmth inside our homes while temperatures plummeted outside, along with the greatly increased hours of demand each day, many saw their bills up to double the normal payment, or even more.

Right throughout Ireland, but particularly in the capital, cheap coal in Dublin is making a big comeback as people look to the trusty Open Fire again as a means to better manage their Home Heating Costs.  Coal Merchants Dublin have already reported an upturn in sales Y/Y. After a decade or more of declining  coal deliveries Dublin, this reversal of fortunes is most welcomed by the Coal Merchants/ Smokeless Fuel Suppliers.

Coal Merchants Dublin welcome cheapest coal in Dublin is 3 years

Dublin Coal Merchant, Robert Hudson of Crumlin Fuel Depot said “Last winter we saw the return of many of our customers who had previously changed to gas or oil”. He continues “your Open Fire will not only provide a Warm and Welcoming Focal Point for the whole family on these cold and damp evenings, it can also help you to manage those ever increasing heating bills”. “Even those who continue to occassionally use their gas or oil systems have noticed that enjoying the Warm and Friendly Ambiance of their Cosy Open Fire each evening or over the weekend can hugely reduce the demand on their main supply and minimise those unexpected heating bills that pop up every couple of months”. Robert concluded by saying “There has never been a better time to enjoy the cosy comfort of a Real Coal Fire”.

A big plus for many people in Dublin who are using their open fire is the fact that they can very often arrange a smaller more manageable Smokeless Fuel Delivery directly to their homes. And then their stock of fuel is right there for them to see, fully paid for.  They can easily monitor what they are using each week, no worries about unexpected bills, no nasty surprises. Indeed the improved quality, high heat output, low emissions Smokeless Fuel available today is more than enough to fill your home with a lasting warmth that doesn’t instantly disappear with the click of a timer.

Vital Supplies of Cheap Coal in Dublin City, The Post War Years

The availability of supplies of cheap coal in Dublin was very often a life line for post war Dublin residents

Crumlin Fuel Depot, Coal Merchants Dublin. Coal Delivery Dublin of quality cheap coal in Dublin

Traditional old coal merchants, Dublin Bellman

For centuries Irish people have relied on supplies of cheap coal in Dublin as their primary source of heating. Indeed, the people have often depended on supplies of cheap coal in Dublin for cooking and lighting in their homes too. Coal Merchants in Dublin have always been a valuable member of the Dublin business community, often more so than other suppliers of goods and services. During the harshest winters of bygone days, a reliable and trustworthy Coal Merchant Dublin with supplies of good quality cheap coal in Dublin could be the difference between life and death to families in the freezing  post war Dublin. Families at that time, while large in number, lived in small poorly insulated draughty homes and relied on the local coal merchant Dublin to deliver a reasonably good quality cheap coal in Dublin directly to their home. Good quality cheap coal in Dublin was of course a concern for families primarily for heat at the time, but even then, the social aspect of an open fire was evident, where the entire family spent long, cold and damp evenings huddled together around a warm cosy fire. Stories and tales of legend were passed from generation to generation around the coal fires of Dublin family homes.  Traditional Irish Music played around the coal fire of an evening was often the only highlight of the weekend.

Coal Delivery Dublin, “The Bellman”

Coal Merchants Dublin were traditionally known as “bell men” because of the bell attached to the harness of their horse and cart. As they delivered cheap coal in Dublin , the bell would jingle to the stride of the horse hauling the cart load of coal across the cobbled streets of the city. The sound of the bell alerted the residents to the arrival of the Dublin Coal Merchants on the streets outside there homes. The residents would then come out from their homes to buy their coal from the Dublin Coal Merchant, often only a couple of days supply each time. To buy even a full bag of Coal at that time would have been an unaffordable extravagance for most Dublin residents. The Dublin Coal Merchant would have weighted out the coal on his coal scales on the back of his cart. Mostly selling cheap coal in Dublin at no more than a stone (6.5 Kgs) of coal or less each time, urually tipped into used cardboard boxes, shopping bags, small home made wooden carts, or even baby’s prams, the Coal Merchants in Dublin would be a daily sight in the tenements and developing housing estates of the day. Traditional Coal Merchants Dublin, such as Crumlin Fuel Depot, evolved from family traditions of being the local bellman of the day, often passed on from grandfather to father to son just like many other small family business’.

Good quality Cheap Coal in Dublin City.

Robert Hudson of Crumlin Fuel Depot, Coal Merchants Dublin said today, “Quality supplies of cheap coal in Dublin city at the time was so important for so many families, for so many reasons. Coal delivery Dublin, while a daily sight on the city streets, really played a vital role at the time, as it has for millenia.”
